I guess to start things off I'll mention that Justin and I just recently got engaged on December 12th. We were on vacation in Washington DC. It was perfect. We were walking along the Potomac River in Georgetown and we stopped to sit on a bench. He pulled out the ring, got down on one knee and popped the question. Of course I said yes. There were a few tears, but they dried up fairly quickly since it was so cold outside. After that we went to our room at the Ritz Carlton. Never have I been in a room that nice. Justin had told them that we were most likely going to be showing up engaged and they told him they would try to see if they could up grade our room to a one bedroom suite. When we opened the door we walked into a room bigger than our townhouse. The room was about 1600 sq.ft. They had upgraded up to the Ambassador Suite. After the trip we had just getting to DC we really needed and appreciated everything that they did for us.
For all of you who haven't heard about the 'Trip from Hell' here is a play by play of the days events. It's kind of long but then again so was that day.
December 11th
3:30 am - wake up
4:55 am - Taxi to John Wayne Airport
5:10 am - We find out that our plane never left Houston due to an ice storm the previous night. Our first class seats are gone and we are sitting in middle seats, not together.
Approx. 6:45 -7:00 am - We find out that we'll be getting to DC but now we are going through Newark, NJ rather than Houston.
Approx. 7:20 am - A man has a seizure near our gate and is taken away by paramedics.
Out flight is delayed until 10:00 am.
10:00 am - We are boarded and make our way to the runway. A passenger has a panic attack as we are about to take off and we have to turn around and return to the gate so they can de-plane.
11:15 am - We depart Santa Ana and head to Newark, NJ
7:00 pm - Arrive in Newark and find out our luck has changed and the flight to take us to DC has been delayed which means we can actually make it. The flight was delayed until 8:22 pm.
9:00 pm - Board flight to DC (Woo Hoo, we're in first class this time)
10:00 pm - Push back from gate and head out to the runway.
10:10 pm - The crew reached mandatory rest period and has to return to the gate. We have to de-plane.
10:20 pm - We are told that another crew will take us to DC. We just have to wait for them to get here.
December 12th (Yep, it's a new day now and we're still not in DC)
12:00 am - We board again and are now waiting for the captain to arrive.
12:27 am - Captain arrives
12:38 am - The tug breaks (the little car that pushes the plane backwards)
12:54 am - We finally push back from the gate
1:18 am - Take off to DC
2:16 am - Waiting at Baggage Claim in DC
2:30 am - Carrie's bag is still in Newark
3:30 am - Go to sleep at the Grand Hyatt, DC
6:40 am - Wake up so that we can go to the store to get make up and toiletries for me since we are suppose to go to The Whitehouse today and I have no luggage.
After all this happened things got much better since today was the day that Justin proposed!
